Meet our 2022-2023 Mentors!

Yu Bai has been an ESL teacher for 15 years and is currently a faculty member in the ESL Program at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). 

Lauren Remenyi, M.A. – Lauren received her MA in TESOL from UMBC in 2013. Since then, she has taught primarily college-level ESL at many institutions in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. She is currently a faculty college lecturer for ESL and Applied Linguistics at Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey, where she teaches and designs courses for their online International Program.

Diana Siemer earned an MA in Instructional Design in TESOL from UMBC and has been involved in the field of TEOL for over 20 years. She began her career as an adult ESOL teacher and as a certified K-12 teacher in the public schools for 5 years. She then took her current position as Manager of Educational Services with Esperanza Center, where she has managed adult, youth, and family ESOL programs as well as other courses for adults.

Darcy Scott is an ESOL Teacher & Co-Chair of the ESOL department at Rosa Parks Elementary School. She has been an elementary ESOL teacher in Prince George’s County for the past 14 years.  She has taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade English learners. This year, she earned her National Board certification in English as a New Language
